Mental Health: Substance Abuse Programs

Detoxification Unit

This inpatient unit, located on the Brockton campus, offers veterans the opportunity to detoxify from drugs and alcohol in a safe inpatient setting.

Our staff, consisting of psychiatrists, nurses, social worker, and a nutritionist, work to stabilize and help the veteran to gain improved mental health through abstinence.

Most veterans stay three days, with longer stays based upon medical need. Services include:

  • psychiatric assessment
  • substance abuse assessment and treatment
  • social and family assessment
  • patient and family education.

Staff, together with the patient and family, develop a treatment plan for the substance abuse problem and the veteran's return to the community.
