Inpatient palliative care and hospice program

Our inpatient units are dedicated to the supportive care of veterans with potentially life-threatening illnessess and their families. Our mission is to provide compassionate, holistic care to our residents. We strive to lessen all forms of suffering, in a setting that assists our residents to find peace of mind, body and spirit at the end of their lives.

A team of specialists, together with the veteran and his/her family, strives to ensure that the wishes of the resident are achieved. The team consists of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, speech pathologists, social workers, bereavement cooredinators, and others. Each member of the team is committed to providing comfort and recognizing the dignity and value of each veteran while enabling him/her to live each day to the fullest.

24 hour pharmacy
24 hour skilled nursing care
Specialized pain management
Full time social worker and bereavement support
Psychological counseling
Multi-denominational pastoral services
Full-time registered dietician
In addition, our Brockton unit offers recreational activities seven days a week.

Acceptance criteria

The hospice and palliative care unit accepts patients with potentially life threatening illness for acute pain and symptom management and hospice care.  Patients accepted to the palliative care unit must be evaluated first by the palliative care team.
