VA Boston Healthcare System

Radiation Therapy

Radiation Therapy at VA Boston provides compassionate, quality services to treat patients who have certain types of cancer. We work to support our patients and their families, teach them what to expect with Man lays on a table as a doctor and nurse discuss treatment treatment, and ultimately restore their health.

VA Boston is home to the only Radiation Therapy department in all VA facilities in New England. Our state-of-the-art services include:

-External Beam treatment: a beam (or multiple beams) of radiation is directed through the skin to the cancer and the immediate surrounding area in order to destroy cancer cells. What to expect with External Beam treatment.

-Brachytherapy treatment: a method for treating prostate cancer. Small radioactive sources, or seeds, are placed into the prostate itself. The radiation dose delivered by these seeds is highly concentrated at this location, and is minimal elsewhere. What to expect with Brachytherapy treatment.

Radiation Therapy is located on the basement floor of the Jamaica Plain campus.

 - Take the elevators or staircase in the main building to the basement
 - Turn left at the vending machine
 - Travel to the end of the corridor
 - Turn right to find the entrance to Radiation Therapy
