VA Boston Healthcare System
Center for Returning Veterans (OEF/OIF)

The Center for Returning Veterans (CRV) provides assessment and treatment (including individual and group therapy and psychopharmacology) for veterans who have been deployed as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn (OEF/OIF/OND) and who are experiencing post-deployment readjustment concerns. Veterans may be initially assessed in CRV and subsequently referred to appropriate specialty mental health services throughout VA as indicated. Individual treatment offered through the CRV is evidence-based, time-limited, and problem-focused. A variety of theoretical approaches to treatment are utilized; however, cognitive-behavioral methods are emphasized. CRV providers focus on engaging in care veterans who are new to or ambivalent about mental health treatment. Goals of treatment are to improve post-deployment readjustment as reflected by decreased symptoms severity and improved functioning.
