Caring for Women Veterans

Women Veterans Health Care Team

VA Boston's Women Veterans Health Team

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Over the course of the past year, the Women’s Health Program has grown under the leadership of Dr. Megan Gerber, Women’s Health Medical Director, and Carolyn Mason Wholley,  LICSW, Women Veterans Program Manger, with support from the medical center leadership and primary care leadership. Women's Health Comprehensive Primary Care has expanded to all VA Boston Healthcare System Campuses and CBOCs.  What this means is any female patient coming to VA BHS for primary care can also receive her gender specific care from that same physician.  It is truly patient-centered care—one visit, one provider, one Patient Aligned Care Team.  The Women's Health team recently gathered for a Primary Care Retreat.  Ms. Doris Montgomery was recognized as the Women's Health employee who has been a Champion for Improvement in 2010, and the Women’s Health Centers at the Jamaica Plain campus and the Brockton campus received recognition for having the highest percentage of patients screened for breast cancer and cervical cancer, as well as an award for diabetes management.
