Social Work at VA Boston Healthcare System is an integral part of healthcare, helping veterans and their families with problems associated with the stress of an illness. In many cases, social workers join with other healthcare providers to meet patient needs.

 

VA Boston employs over 100 social workers in various roles throughout its sites.

 

Services Offered

 

Social workers provide a variety of services within the VA system and in the community, to include the following:

 

 

 

  • Residential and transitional living
  • Discharge planning: assessing the needs of the veteran, and working with the veteran and family for an appropriate placement
  • Advocacy
